If I were ever to be a mother, I would want my daughter to be just like this. Only for the reason of this: ”I’m kind of used to people staring at me like I’m from another planet when I go out, it doesn’t faze me at all”. Though I doubt that, at 16, she ever uttered the words: “Japanese designers have an aesthetic that is so far removed from fashion anywhere else in the world. A huge part of their aesthetic is deconstruction and decay; I love the juxtaposition against the super-modern background of Tokyo”…. But I would know she had the ability to. That’s why I would be proud.
I wish that I had that when I was at school, not just now.
